Hello everyone, hope you're enjoying your break! I am working on the "out of focus" exercise and I am confused as to how much of the frame should be out of focus. Should it be the entire scene or just our main subject that is out of focus? Should we create a "pattern" that allow the viewer to make sense of the out of focus portion (which is what I think this assignment is designed for)? Should we set our cameras on manual focus and have total control of focus (or lack thereof) or can we leave it on auto focus and just play with distance and aperture (but I find it pretty hard to get the out of focus where/when I want it)? Is there a preferred method? What are your impressions for those of you who are done with this exercise? Thanks!! Chiara
