FINAL EXAM UPDATE

Just a reminder that the exam will be on Wednesday from 4 - 5 in the lab. I'm afraid I mixed up my travel dates and I will already be winging my way to Sweden at that time. Alan Rellaford will be there to administer the exam.

Because of my screwup, I won't be able to grade your exams until I return. I'll be posting grades around May 28 or 29. I will likely download your image files remotely long before that.

Also, I've heard that there's some confusion about an article you were to read this semester. It was assigned in the handout for the 500 pictures in 5 days project. You can get the link for the handout (which contains a link within) in this posting.

My apologies and regrets for missing our final. I hope you have a great break and please keep in touch!

FINAL EXAM

Just a reminder that we agreed to move your final exam to Wednesday. We'll begin promptly at 4:00.

Your two prints should be completed (hanging in the lab with your name on the back). Your files should also be sized to the exact specifications I outlined on the whiteboard and turned in on the server.

YOU WILL NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO ANY COMPUTER WORK AFTER 4:00, SO PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR FILES AND PRINTING PRIOR TO THE FINAL.

Also, please remove any important files from the server as I'll be doing maintenance soon.

Alternative process photo class: Fall openings

A cyanotype by Anna Atkins, 1843. One of several alternative process you'll likely learn in ARTS 343.

I've been asked to spread the word: there will be an alternative (historic) process photography class offered in the Art Department this Fall. The course number is ARTS 343/434. It can be used toward the Photograpy Minor.

Open studio today

Just a reminder, the open studio (at my house) is this afternoon from 2 - 4ish. I hope to see you there. There will be light snacks.

Specifications for SEE, revised deadline

Here are the specifications for your images that will go into the book. I'm revising the deadline.These files are due by 5:00 on Thursday, May 3.

1. Please provide images that have the same aspect ratio of the originals. That means that if you crop, do so proportionally.

2. Resize your images so the shortest dimension is 5" and the resolution is EXACTLY 300 dpi.

3. You should interpret your pictures with adjustment layers and sharpening. Make proof prints to verify the final print quality. Prints in the magazine will be a fairly close match to prints you make in lab.

4. You will give me a flatted jpeg, maximum quality. SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL UNFLATTENED VERSION IN CASE I REQUEST REVISIONS.

5. Name your file with your last name, then the letter and number that was assigned to your picture (e.g. WolfeA12.jpg).

6. Your image should be in "sRGB" color space. This is something you'll do as a very last step. I will demonstrate how to do this simple procedure on Tuesday. 

7. Put it into the appropriate folder on the class server inside the folder titled "SEE FINAL IMAGES."
